A fabulous 1950's necklace strung with 3 strands of gorgeous graduated lucite beads which were made to imitate real amber, baroque pearls and crackle glass faceted beads. The imitation amber beads have been so cleverly made with all the features of real amber, including apparent inclusions and of course, weight. Some of the smaller faceted imitation glass beads have a slight aurora borealis finish giving added visual appeal.
The shortest strand of the necklace measures 15 inches long but fastening with a hook clasp and extension chain, it can be worn up to a length of 18 inches. The largest imitation amber bead measures just under 3/4 inch side to side, 5/8 inch top to bottom and 1/2 inch deep.
The Necklace is in excellent condition with a slight scuff to one of the imitation pearls (only visible using a magnifying glass and impossible to see with the naked eye), otherwise no other damage. Although some of the beads are quite chunky giving some weight to the necklace, overall it is lighter than a similar necklace strung with real amber, pearls and glass beads would be. The necklace is possibly of West German origin.
