An interesting vintage Italian souvenir coin bracelet which dates from 1936 and has the Italian Fasces mark on the back of each coin. The Fasces symbol (an axe bundled with birch sticks dating from Roman times) was used during the period of Mussolini's Fascist government in Italy in silver marks from 1934 to 1944 and coupled with the 1936 date on each coin it would indicate that the bracelet dates from that time. The use of the Fasces symbol was discontinued in 1944. The Bracelet is in a dark silver tone metal but is not silver as it doesn't have any silver hallmarks. The coins used in these bracelets were not real coins but manufactured purely for use in jewelry. The Bracelet is also marked 'GM' in a circle on the clasp. While these bracelets are fairly common I have never seen one dated in this way or marked with the Fasces mark.
The Bracelet measures 8 inches long and 1 inch wide and fastens with a fold-over snap clasp.
In excellent condition with no damage, the bracelet has a lovely aged patina and has a nice weight to it.
