Hand stitched needlepoint embroidery purse, circa 1950. The purse measures 8" x 10" and about 1 1/2" deep. It has a very ornate brass frame with an openwork design which wraps around the entire frame, not just the top. There is a 16" chain handle.
The needlepoint is hand stitched, approximately 24 stitches per inch- that is nearly 600 individual stitches per square inch! The pattern is a bouquet of flowers, possibly roses and tulips surrounded by a garland of flowers. The same design appears on both sides, and both sides are shown in the photos.
The interior is lined in black satin and has a side pocket. The purse is very clean, inside and out and shows minimal wear and use.
