Silver plate 3 ½" sugar tongs in the "Embossed" pattern made in 1882 by The Meriden Britannia Company with their 1847 Rogers Bros. A1 trademark. The "Embossed" pattern had many variations; this has a pattern of leaves and bell-like flowers. Marked 1847 Rogers Bros A1, with the circular Meriden Co. mark.

These tongs are pictured in the book 'Silver Plated Flatware Patterns' 2nd Edition by Davis and Deibel, p349. The tongs are in very good condition, with minor signs of use. I see no dents, but there is one speck missing the plating at the very top, as shown in the photo.

We do not polish silver aggressively - just a light buffing with a silvercloth. This set was stored in a silver chest and shows very little tarnish. We have more silver and silver plate from the same family, and we are always happy to combine shipping.
