Milk glass dog on a basket or nest, attributed to Westmoreland Glass, 1950's. The previous owner purchased this in the late 1950's- it originally had a paper label, lost over time. It is identical to other Westmoreland pieces, and it is well documented that Westmoreland used paper labels in this period.
The dish measures 5 1/2" x 4"and 4" high. There are no chips, but there are 2 small hairline stress marks; one on the lid and another on the basket portion, shown in the last photos. There is also a dark speck or inclusion in the glass, on the rim of the nest, also shown.
There is evidence of previous paint or dark color on the dog's muzzle. Some of these covered animal dishes were highlighted with cold paint, which wore off easily.
