Toffee tin filled with mother of pearl shell buttons. There are many sizes, tiny to 1". There are buttons with 2 holes, 4 holes, metal shanks and self (sew-through) shanks. Most are round buttons, a few have carved concentric circles.

There are over a pound of buttons! I have not counted them, but I think there are around 200. A few were found after the photos.
The buttons date from the Victorian era through the mid 1900's.

The tin reads Blue Bird Toffee, Harry Vincent Ltd., Hunnington, Worcestershire, near Old Market Birmingham. The tin measures 5 1/4" across and about 1 1/2" high. It has an old market scene with castle ruins in the background, but the tin is very worn, as shown. We believe the tin dates from the 1940's - 1950's.
