Farmhouse primitive stoneware crock in unusual size and glaze. The crock measures 9 1/2" across and 4 1/2" high. The shape is like many butter crocks., but the size is significantly larger.
The outer glaze is cream white, the inner glaze is dark brown. There are no cracks or chips, but 2 outer glaze defects, shown in the close up photos. Both are small and probably occurred during manufacture.
This crock comes from a colonial farmhouse, and we believe it dates toa bout 1880. I see no markings or label.
The crock weighs just under 5 pounds before packing.
