Colorful bowl or wall plate, 13 7/8" across and 3" high. It is marked "Talavera, Maximo Huerta, Amozoc Puebla, Mexico, Hecho a Mano".
Talavera pottery is a type of majolica ware, made in Talavera, Mexico from local clay. Each piece is hand made and painted by expertly trained artisans. Maximo Huerta is the senior director of the studio, and a well known potter in the area.
This beautiful plate is in excellent condition, but has a small indentation under the glaze, as shown in the close-up photos. It has hole on the reverse for hanging, but would be equally beautiful on a table.
Talavera pottery glazes and paints are lead-free, but I would not recommend using this for hot foods.
