Lovely Capodimonte or Capodimonte style dresser box, circa 1900. The roundbox is 6 1/2" across and 3 1/4" high with a bas relief lid depicting two cherubic figures in a wreath of roses.
The sides of the box are encased in a bronze reticulate frame. The base is marked with an N and crown. This mark is similar to many used by makers and I cannot identify it with certainty. There is a signature or artist's mark below, but it is worn and illegible. The former owner says his grandmother received this as a gift in the early 1900's and displayed it on her dresser for as long as he can remember. (His grandmother passed away in 1958.)
The box is in excellent condition with minor wear as expected. It has been well cared for and displays beautifully.
