Early 20th century porcelain butter dome or covered butter plate, by Knowles, Taylor and Knowles. The lid has a lovely pattern of blue and pink carnation flowers and gilt trim. The perfect piece for dining al fresco, whether used for butter, cheese or dainty snacks!
The underplate measures 7 3/4" across and 1 1/2" high. The lid is 5 1/2" across and 3 1/2" high, and the dish is about 4 1/2" high when the dome lid is in place. The K. T. & K. mark on the bottom dates this to about 1915 - 1920. Both sides of the lid are shown.
There are no chips or cracks, but there is light crazing. there is a pale tan irregular area under the glaze, about 1/2" x 3/4" (please see photo). The gilt trim is about 80% intact.
