White ironstone pottery bowl, attributed to Empire Pottery of Trenton NJ. This company was in business from 1863 - 1884. It is 10" across and 3 1/2" high. There is a gently scalloped edge. The bottom has a "Lion and Unicorn" mark and reads Perfection (which I assume is the name of the pattern line), white granite.
White graniteware was produced by several Trenton potteries. The lion and unicorn was a common mark, and several companies has similar marks.
The bowl has no chips, cracks or hairlines. There are 3 "glaze skips" on the inside and mild signs of wear.
