Large oval tray, 21" x 13" and 3" high at the handles. It was hand made, circa 1900, and is an example of one of the many home beautification crafts that ladies indulged in at that time.
The frame is wicker. It has three real butterflies and pressed flowers and grasses under glass. The background is a silky-looking floss, that I believe may be milkweed seed. The bottom of the tray is wood. It bears a label which reads "Grandma Mary Kirkland Bartholf, 1900".
The tray is in excellent condition with little or no signs of wear. It has been well cared for and passed down in one family - but ready to join another.
