12.5" round blue and white chop plate or platter made by Ridgway, Staffordshire, England potteries, circa 1920 - 1930. Willow Ware or Blue Willow has been made in hundreds of variations since the late 1700's. All depict the story of star-crossed lovers, finally united as birds.
This larger size is a chop platter or serving platter.
The chop plate is in very good condition. It has some very mild crazing and 4 brown spots where the iron in the clay has leached to the surface (see photos). There are no chips or cracks.
This platter is very hard to find and perfect for both use and display.
