From a local collector - an old Chinese ink pot or ink jar from the mid to late 1800's. The box is 3 1/2" across and 2 1/4" high.
The box id pale gray porcelain with a bluish cast, hand painted in cobalt blue and finished with the symbol for double happiness. There are obvious signs of use - the box still has traces of vermillion paste, which the former collector chose to leave. There is some soil on the rim as well. The lid does not fit tightly. This piece was obviously meant for use, not just display.
The box as a few minor chips on the rim of the lid, some very old, some newer.
If you prefer to have this in clean condition, let me know, but the signs of use are part of the history of this piece.
