An elegant necklace of polished onyx, carved malachite with 14K gold spacers and clasp. The necklace is 28" long and is signed CI on the clasp. Each malachite bead is fluted and spiral carved. It is apparent that the designed selected beads to show off the natural striations and variations in color.
Purchased at Fetting's Jewelry of Baltimore approximately 35 years ago, this necklace is in excellent, barely worn, condition. Fetting's, once known as the "Tiffany's of Baltimore" was the place brides dreamed about and the well-to-do visited for high quality jewelry and silver. When Fetting's closed in 1991, Baltimore society lost one of its finest old establishments.
This necklace has been treasured and well cared for. The classic styling and bold colors make it a timeless piece. The smooth drape and generous 28" drop make it a most wearable piece.
This necklace came to me in a velveteen box that is not original to the necklace. I will include both the velveteen box and a new emerald silk pouch.
