Native American style watch band, circa 1960. This band is 6" long, and with the addition of a watch, should fit an average wrist of 6 1/2" - 71/2" or slightly more. The style is more feminine and less chunky than many watch bands of this type.
The watch ends are ornate, each with two turquoise stones and a a gold-washed leaf design. Each end measures, 1 1/16" long, and 5/8" at the widest point. The end pieces are marked sterling, and have the hallmark VV. The stretch portion of the band is not sterling. The stones are most likely stabilized turquoise. They are a uniform light turquoise blue without pattern or matrix. It is in very good condition, but is also easy to replace. The sterling has been gently polished with a silver-cloth. If you wish to polish it more, it should come to a nice shine.
The watch band originally came with a Timex watch (see photo). We have removed the watch to clean the band. The Timex is not working, and is was deemed not worth the cost of repair. The Timex and attachment springs can be included (free) at your request.
This band should fit any watch with a 10mm fitting. Most stores that sell jewelry have a special tool to compress the springs and attach the watch.
This watch was purchased in Arizona by the original owner in the early 60's. We cannot identify the VV mark, but it is presumed to be Native American made.
