Very pretty Russian Finift pendant, 1 1/2" long and 3/4" wide on a 17" sterling silver chain.
The pendant has a hand painted pink rose and blue forget-me-not flowers on a blue background. The background enamel is white in the middle and gradually becomes blue at the edges. Please be aware that blue shows up differently on individual monitors - I would describe this as a light to medium cobalt blue.
The enamel is set in an asymmetrical silver filigree. Russian Finift silver is rarely marked and generally considered to be 800 silver. It may have some nickel content, so if you are sensitive to nickel, do not wear the pendant next to your skin.
The 17" chain is sterling silver, marked 925. It is probably not original, but came to me with the pendant.
Russian Rostov Finift enamel has been made since the 1700's, and is still being made today. Older pieces have more variation and more delicate shading. This pendant dates from about 1980.
