Beautiful cameo bracelet, circa 1920. Each of the seven cameos are 1/2" x 3/4" and bezel-set in sterling silver. The wearable length of the bracelet is just under 7 1/2". There is a pressure tongue clasp with a safety latch. The bracelet is marked on the clasp: sterling 925.
Each cameo depicts a Roman god or goddess in a chariot.
From left to right, the cameos depict:
Monday – Diana, Goddess of Hunting & Chastity;
Tuesday – Mars, God of War;
Wednesday – Mercury, God of Trade & Protector of Thieves;
Thursday – Jupiter, Father of the Gods;
Friday – Venus Goddess of Love & Beauty;
Saturday – Saturnus, God of Agriculture;
Sunday – Apollo, God of Sun, Art & Medicine;
Every link is shown at least once in the close up photos.
Each cameo is hand-carved from cornelian helmet shell. There are no fractures or hairlines visible when the cameo is held to the light, and the bracelet is in overall excellent condition. The carvings are crisp and very nicely done.
