Sterling silver watch fob or large charm, 7/8" x 7/8", not including the bail.
The Victorian Celtic Revival was a renewal of pride and interest in the traditions and arts of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Fueled by the discovery of the Tara brooch and Prince Albert's love of Scotland, many artisans made jewelry incorporating ancient Celtic motifs.
The piece is based upon the penannular pin. The hallmark is very difficult to read, but is presumed to be CC (Charles Cook), with marks for Dublin and a year letter of 1897. The old jump ring was previously soldered and split, but still functional. I will include a new ring - let me know if you want the older one removed.
This piece was black with tarnish when found, and has been gently polished with a sunshine cloth.
We do, occasionally have vintage sterling chains in stock at a reasonable price. If interested, please ask about my current inventory.
