Victorian era 800 silver brooch or bar pin, 2" x 1/2" (53mm x15mm) inlaid with green Connemara marble. The pin dates from about 1890 - 1900 and is in very good condition.
These old pins were inspired by the Irish Nationalist Movement, which began in the 1880's as a reaction to English influence and the perceived loss of Irish cultural identity. The pins often included traditional Irish symbols, such as the harp or shamrock, and included native Irish materials, such as Connemara marble or bog oak.
The pin is not marked, but tests as 800 silver . All of the green Connemara marble pieces are present and undamaged.
