Show your Celtic pride on St. Patrick's Day with this nicely detailed brooch, 1 1/8" x 1 3/8" (30mm x 35mm). It is silver tone, unmarked, with 3 glass agate-like gems in a traditionally inspired setting.
This is a penannular style brooch, made to look like the fasteners worn on old capes and shawls. In 6th to 8th century Ireland, the craftsmanship and ornamentation of a penannular brooch expressed the wearer's wealth and status. The most famous penannular brooch is, of course, the famous Tara Brooch.
I'm fairly sure this is an unsigned Miracle piece, 1960's, as I have seen nearly identical signed pieces.
