Four lovely placemats, all in excellent condition. They are each about 18" x 12". The fabric is unmarked, but I think it is a cotton linen blend. Each mat is edged in needle lace or needle woven lace, as it is sometimes called. There is an inner border of cutwork embroidery and small embroidered flowers.

Each place mat is shown separately, one is shown on the reverse (as marked). These probably date from the 1940's or 1950's, and I would guess the handwork is Oriental. They have no stains or marks, and no signs of use. They have been nicely pressed - I do not know if this was done by the maker or former owner.
