Cast metal handle for walking stick, cane or possibly an umbrella, circa 1900. The handle is a dark metal, possibly pewter, 6 3/4" x 3", with a 1/2" opening to inset the cane. The Art Nouveau design is a bent branch or twig with a design of fleur de lis. No polishing has been attempted. No damages or issues are noted.
Walking sticks were a popular fashion accessory until the early 1900's, not so much to lean upon, but to add style and dash to one's presence. This style, though it appears feminine today, may have been appropriate for a man of that era.
We have other walking sticks to come, from the same Philadelphia area collector.
