Three embroidered Irish linen handkerchiefs, still in the original gift box. These date from about 1950. The handkerchiefs are about 16" square, with white on white embroidered flowers. One has a rose, the others have a daisy design. Note the lovely hand-stitched hem.
The gift box is 9 1/4" square and shows some age and wear. The foil label "Pure Irish Linen with Cotton Embroidery" may be seen on the lower corner.
There is mild discoloration in a few areas at the edges - this is similar to foxing and should wash out. Oxy-clean and sunlight are the best methods for natural fabrics. Linen is the longest lasting of all fabrics and becomes softer with age and use. Suitable for weddings, teas and elegant living.
