This is a lovely little display piece, which we think is a spice or spoon rack. The cabinet measures 12.5" high,7.5" across and 3.5" deep. It is wooden, obviously hand made. There are six slots for displaying items, and a small drawer with brass knob.
The best part is a hand carved swallow at the top. I believe the bird is a Victorian hand carved piece which the maker added. The swallow shows some damage to the beak and his tail has been trimmed to fit the cabinet shelf. The bird is older wood, black walnut.
This is a sweet one of a kind piece. To the best of our knowledge, the cabinet dates from the 1920's or 1930's. The bird is probably dates from 1870 or 1880.
