Nice lot of 41 (maybe 42, if we can find the escaped one) Peltier Glass Banana Cat's Eye marbles. Peltier, of Ottawa, Illinois, made these in the 1940's through about 1955.
Most of these are clear, but some have a slightly tan or brown color. The marbles have small glass bubbles inside, which gives them a speckled appearance. The vein of color runs from pole to pole, forming a banana shape, thus the nickname for these marbles. There are single color, bicolor and a few tricolor bananas, including the very collectible red, white and blue. All are 5/8".
They are in very good "played with" condition. These were found in a barn in Pennsylvania, stored in an old mouse-eaten cloth pouch.
I am not a marble expert and relied on a colleague for identification. If you have more information, let me know!
