Beautiful old wooden dough bowl from a farmhouse near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. This bowl was stored with other unused kitchen ware, and has not been used for some time. It is a lovely piece of early Americana.

The bowl is hand-turned, 11" x 12" and about 2 1/4" high. It would have been used for biscuits, bread or pastry. The wood is dark and aged. It has dried out, so is fairly light in weight. There is a hairline crack on the rim, but nothing that affects the function of the bowl. The wood appears finished or shiny in some photos - it is not. It has been gently washed, but not oiled or finished.

I have several old wooden bowls that I use for display, for fruit and even salads. I wash mine by hand and apply salad oil.
