Leary's Ready Reckoner, Form Book, and Wages Calculator - Published by Leary, Stuart & Co - 1901. An interesting "calculator" and a look into the economics of life over 100 years ago.
To quote from the title page, this book is:
"The trader's, farmer's, and mechanic's useful assistant for buying and selling all sorts of commodities in dollars and cents, showing at once the amount and value of any number or quantity of goods or merchandise, from a quarter of a cent to ten dollars. With the coins of all the foreign nations who hold commercial relations with the United States reduced to their exact value in dollars and cents. Rates of board by the week. Forms of notes, bills, petitions, licenses, etc. To which is added a wages calculator for computing amount of wages, from one dollar per week to twenty five dollars, by hours, half hours and quarter hours."
It is quite amazing to realize that wages ranged from one to twenty five dollars a week - and that one could live on that amount.
The book is hard cover, 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". There is cover wear and fading, but the inside is in good condition, though the paper is yellowed. I see no tears or missing pages - overall condition is good for the age.
This book can be sent via media mail in a padded envelope or priority mail in a box.
