Hand turned wooden dough bowl, about 10" across and 3" high. The bowl is slightly out of round, as these old bowls tend to be, due to the natural grain of the wood. It dates from the early 1900's, and has a dark finish on the interior and a light golden finish on the outside and bottom. It is unusual and very attractive, to my eye.
This bowl is in very good vintage condition, with no cracks or splits. The finish must have been done long ago, as it has a rich patina and signs of use. There is a photo under strong light which shows the wear. This is not visible without strong light and magnification.
A wonderful old piece to hold fruit, gourds or even pine cones. If used for salads, it should be oiled and seasoned first.
