These four tiles were made in the 1970's using old butter molds. They were part of a project at that time, and these were extra unused tiles.
Each tile is roughly 4" square. The bisque is brick-like in color. The wet clay was impressed with old wooden butter molds from the early 1800's, then fired at a low temperature. There are two bird tiles, a thistle tile and a berry tile.
The edges are not cut smoothly. These tiles can be incorporated into a project or just enjoyed for their beauty. Since the clay is low fired, they may weather if left outside for a long (as in years) period of time, especially in rainy and cold climates.
