Very nice larger Staffordshire pottery poodle with separate front feet. The figure is 9" x 6" and 4 1/2" deep. It has no damages. The poodle has shredded pottery pits to simulate curly fur, a vent hole on the base and a mold line along the dog's back. There is very, very light crazing on parts of the smooth glaze.
The features are hand painted. The dark pupils of the eyes are worn, but the other features, including paws and tiny claws, are good.
This figure comes from a private collection. The original owner collected these pieces in the 1920's when Victorian pieces were considered "out of fashion". They have been with the original owner's family, carefully stored and sometimes displayed for over 90 years!
