Jay of Dublin character doll, Sligo Woman, purchased in Ireland in 1972. The doll is in very good condition, and wears the original tag. The doll has an expressive hand painted plaster face, padded felt body supported by a wire frame. She is just under 7 1/2" high including the stand. The "Jay" dolls reflect the typical dress in various counties of Ireland before the potato famine. The attached tag tells about the clothing.
These dolls are part of a large collection of dolls from around the world. The former owner collected these over the course of many decades, from her travels or the travels of friends and family. They date from the 1930's to about 1979. She kept a record of the year and place of acquisition, so we are able to identify most of these dolls. We would like to find new homes for all these dolls, and are happy to combine shipping and to consider offers for multiple purchases.
