This lovely and demure lady was purchased in Jaipur, India in 1973. The doll is 8 1/4", including the wooden pedestal. Her face and body are covered in a fine cloth, and her features are painted. Her tiny hands and feet are stitched to show the individual fingers and toes. The sari is a dark beige or tan with gold metallic accents, and there is a rather faded pink underskirt beneath the sari. Her jewelry is made of tiny beads.
The doll has been displayed in a case, but does show signs of age and fading. Nothing is broken or damaged.
These dolls are part of a large collection of dolls from around the world. The former owner collected these over the course of many decades, from her travels or the travels of friends and family. They date from the 1930's to about 1979. She kept a record of the year and place of acquisition, so we are able to identify most of these dolls. We would like to find new homes for all these dolls, and are happy to combine shipping and to consider offers for multiple purchases.
