c. 1860 late China Trade period tablespoon in the Old English pattern, monogrammed with a Gothic P. Spoon is marked KHC along with three pseudo English hallmarks for Khecheong (Canton, 1840-1870). The spoon is 7 1/8" long and weighs 1.3 ozt.
This table spoon appears to be from the same service as the soup ladle illustrated in Chait's book on Chinese Export Silver, pg. 89 (item #79). It is the same maker, same pattern and same monogram.
Condition: Good, with slight ripple to bowl (see photos); wear to monogram. Hallmarks very crisp.
