Very cool hand carved folk art cutlery set including a spoon, fork, knife and slice. All the pieces are attached together with a linked chain that can hang on the wall. I've looked carefully and it appears that all of the pieces are carved from a single piece of wood with no breaks in any of the links. There is a chip carved design on the front of all of the pieces and some carving on the back of the slice and the knife. This took someone a very long time to make, probably during the course of several cold winter nights. Pieces like these are sometimes called a whimsy and were carved to pass the time. This piece (or it's carver) was likely Scandinavian in origin given the design.
Based on the patina of the wood, I would estimate this set to be early 20th century. The whole group hanging measures about 16" long. Each utensil is approximately 11" long and on a larger scale than ordinary flatware. In very good condition with no breaks.
