Lovely three part mold blown decanter by Clevenger Bros. in amethyst. The decanter measures approximately 10 3/4" tall and is in mint condition. This was made in New Jersey in the 1940s using the same techniques used for early American sandwich glass and is often confused as such. This is a hand blown piece with the glass being blown into a 3-part mold and there is a rough pontil on the base.
This particular blown-three-mold pattern was called "Stoddard" by the Clevengers and "GIII-5" in George McKearin's American Glass book. This particular pattern was used by the Clevengers in pitchers, jugs, vases and decanters. The purple/ amethyst color is lovely.
