This is one of the original Enid Collins-inspired, 1960’s do-it-yourself totes. Many of these have not survived as even original Enid Collin handbags tended to be very delicate. Of course, there were many that were lacking in design. This gorgeous beauty survived as it was very well crafted, artistically designed, and it is beautiful. It is in excellent condition and from a private collection.
Made of wood and a rugged vinyl covered with canvas, it is a sight to behold. Adorned in a lively floral pattern, it has glittering rhinestones in Blue, Amber, and Green. It also has Turquoise sequins, Golden beads, and clear rhinestones.
Open the turn-lock to see a flawless, spotless clean interior. It was never carried. The wooden bottom is pristine. There is a single zippered pocket and a slip pocket with both being spotless clean.
Outside the vinyl and metalwork is spotless clean. The beads and sequins shine brilliantly and only a few sequin flower petals are missing. Look at the pictures and you can barely notice them. Those are easily replaced from an arts and crafts store.
The canvas is clean and the trim is intact. The bottom is flawless as well. Indeed, this is a tote from the ‘60s and it will make a wonderful display or, you can carry it. It is truly unique and beautiful. Not often do you find one in such splendid condition anywhere.
The dimensions are 11”L x 10 ½ “H x 4 ¾ “D and the handles afford a 6 ½ “drop.
