These are the genuine Wayang Golek puppet dolls Rama and Shinta. The story of Rama and Shinta is world famous and originates from ancient Indonesia. It is a story of eternal love and an unforgettable performance that must be seen live if you ever visit Indonesia in the cities of Bandung, Jakarta, Bali, or Yogykarta in Central Java. It is a love story that dates back many, many centuries.
There are many pictures of these fine Wayangs, Rama and Shinta on my Facebook page. Visit and like the page to see them. Also, I have a video of Wayang Goleks being played in a performance in Bandung, West Java by the artist, Asep Sunandar from Indonesia at my page as well. It is a video that is entertaining and educational.
I brought these Wayang Golek Dolls with me many years ago from Bandung, West Java, Indonesia which is my hometown. I know the story of Rama and Shinta, the history of Wayang Goleks, Wooden Batik Heads, Batik clothing and the tradition very well.
Each of these dolls are tagged, initialed, and hand-painted with intricate detail. None are exactly the same. These are not the cheap, plastic imitations sold as souvenirs. This is the actual, collectible Rama and Shinta Wayangs complete in hand-carved wood. From the private collection, Rama and Shinta are pristine.
Look closely at the pictures to see the fine detail. The Sarong and Batik that Rama and Shinta are wearing is of the finest quality. The sequins and beads give weight that will let you know right away that these are also of the finest quality. Each of these Wayangs were created by a craftsman who had many years of experience of making these to fine detail.
Both have the sticks and are fully jointed so they can actually be used in a performance and each stand on their original solid wood base. These Wayangs were never used in a performance and were kept protected. The hand carved, finely painted, headdresses are absolutely remarkable. The face paint shows the stunning detail of Rama and Shinta's features and they shine brilliantly.
Being fully handmade, they have fine imperfections that is typical such as the fine crack in the paint on Shinta's neck. It is of no issue and since they are made the same way of natural, untreated wood as centuries ago, they will have those little details. The lesser, souvenir quality Wayangs are machine made and not near as finely detailed as these. The differences are not even close.
These Wayangs are superb in detail and are top quality. They will make fine a presentation in a lighted display case and will bring many compliments. You will not regret owning these fine, genuine pieces of art from Indonesia.
They measure 26" in height and will be specially packed with insurance and shipped fragile for your peace of mind. These fine Wayangs cannot be shipped 1st Class because of the risk of damage in transit.
As always, this fine pair of Wayangs will come to you shipped with the utmost care via USPS Priority Mail or your choice of shippers indicated with insurance. Never a handling charge, just the exact shipping to your zip code. I ship all over the world and will gladly combine shipping on multiple purchases.
