Elegance extraordinaire is this ultra-rare Envelope Convertible Evening Bag made by HL (Harry Levine) of USA. Made of Beige Pleather with Gold-tone brass metalwork, it is absolutely stunning. From the mid-1950’s, it is in excellent condition and from a private collection.
Harry Levine from the Harry Levine Corp. in New York City, was a handbag maker from the 1940’s on into the 1960’s. He designed many styles of handbags that influenced many still today. In fact, this beautiful HL can carry with elegance and protection the extra-large smartphones “phablets” such as the Samsung Galaxy Notes, iPad Mini, or many other devices with your wallet. What a great impression it would make. Many from Harry Levine’s design studios such as this sterling gem are highly sought and seldom seen in such spectacular condition as this one.
The soft body of this handbag shines with brilliance. The camera simply cannot capture the sheer beauty of this handbag. This is a very high quality handbag. Open the pin snap to see the Cream faille lining and it is clean and has no marks or stains. The HL USA is still clearly visible in gold filigree just below the single slip pocket.
The front flap has a brass bar across the front that is clean and shines well. Just under the flap on the right is a slight mark from where the flap rests, the mark is insignificant as it is not seen and is removable. The two position chain allows you to carry this HL as a handbag for the evening with the chained inside and also, when needed, on your shoulder with ease. The chain shines and has not faded or kinked. The gussets are clean with no greening. This HL will bring many compliments and is perfect for any event.
This regal beauty was made in New York City and it is pure elegance. Perfect for weddings, photo-shoots, or evenings out.
This fine handbag measures 9 ¼ “L x 5 ¼ "H x 3”D and the chain affords a 13” drop.
