This is a wonderful and highly prized find which we picked up at one of our local auctions here in Pittsburgh. This massive 19" tall vintage glove mold is sure to please almost any collector. The size is extremely rare, as most stand typically 12" tall. These were used in a rubber glove assembly line back in the 1950's and are very difficult to find today in this condition and size.
This prized sculpture would look great in any style of room whether it be retro modern, industrial style, or just as any hip sculptural accent piece to fit in any style decor.
The mold is made of ceramic and is in beautiful condition! More often than not when you find these vintage gems, the bottoms are cracked and chipped something fierce. This one is fabulous!
The mold contains the full factory numbers on the front: COLONIAL INSULATOR CO, WH, 10 (size), IND, US-CML-C-E18, T-1496. On the other side it reads: OCT 18, 1956.
The condition is really fantastic as I have already mentioned. Was actually used in a factory so there are marks that would most likely come off, as it does need a light cleaning. The bottom is inscribed with writing which I cannot make out.
