If you're lucky, you might find one of these enameled dove copper boxes in your travels through Cyberspace or Chile. But to find the entire set of FOUR boxes...well, that's a very lucky day and maybe you should buy a lottery ticket too.
This great mid-century set of enamel on copper trinket boxes was made in CHILE where copper artisans worked their metal magic in the 1950s to 1970s.
The enamel lids of this 4 piece box set feature stylized white doves on blue and white backgrounds. The word CHILE is at bottom of each lid.
The boxes graduate in size and actually fit together in a nesting way. The largest is 2 7/8 inches across the top. Next is the 2 1/2 inch box. Then comes the 1 5/8 inch lid. And last but not least...the baby is 1 1/4 inches across the top. The height of the boxes are 7/8 inch, 1 inch, 1 1/2 inches, and 1 7/8 inches high.
The boxes will hold anything from a single cherished ring to a little treasure trove of jewelry, doo-dads, buttons, trinkets, loose change.
The copper shows slight age-related tarnish but no dings or dents. The enamel lids are all in excellent vintage condition. The large lid has a black line at bottom which is UNDER the enamel...it's not a scratch or external flaw. Great doves in beautiful color on fine copper. Circa 1960.
