This antique mother-of-pearl necklace is typical of the ornately carved shell adornments of the Victorian era. It has a cut-through design that leaves a dimensional star with an intricately carved border. It measures 2 inches across.
The pendant hangs from the 25-inch chain of beautiful luminescent MOP beads. They're linked together to create a sturdy chain. There's no clasp but one can easily be added.
One nice bonus...the necklace comes in its original purple velvet jewelry store box. The inside liner says...The Gwilliam Store - Jewelers & Silversmiths - 7 No. Main St. - Bristol Conn. Box shows some light wear but is overall a nice addition to the necklace.
Necklace is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1910. This type of shell carving is now a lost art which makes this necklace even more special.
