Circa 1950s, this Bakelite Mah Jongg (Mah Jang) game set is complete and ready to play.
There are 5 marbled brown Bakelite racks, 144 butterscotch yellow Bakelite tiles, a pair of Bakelite dice, and the original faux alligator case to hold it all.
All the suits are intact...36 each of dot, crak, and bamboo tiles. Among the tiles are 2 blanks/jokers and 6 miscellaneous flower tiles. There are also wind and dragon tiles.
The etched tiles are carved and colored in red, green and blue. The color is 99% intact with minimal wear to tiles. The tiles measure 7/8 by 1 1/8 inches. They're 1/2 inch thick. All appear to be free of cracks, chips or stains.
Each rack measures 18 inches long (with money holders). . All have money prongs with some plastic 'money'.
The faux alligator case has some wear/tear at corners/edges/base metal but is overall solid and strong with handle intact and duck-taped for added support. The locks are working well but there's no key. Case measures 19 1/2 by 9 by 3 inches.
This set is in overall excellent vintage condition. All intact, complete and ready to play.
