So there we were. The seller (one of our great jewelry pickers) and I, sitting at a corner table in the donut shop, having breakfast as we wheeled and dealed. Half the table was covered with bagels and omelets and the other half was covered with jewelry. No one noticed as we went about our business.
Then she took out this necklace. Three people flew over (including the waitress who we thought had disappeared) to ogle and fondle. I knew the price was going up with every 'wow', 'ooh', and 'is it for sale?'. After some high stakes negotiating, the necklace was finally mine but next time, I might find a place that's more quiet and less tasty than a donut shop in which to whip out the jewels.
So here it is. What all the fuss was about. They say that two heads are better than one. How about 15 heads? They're all the same gilt covered goddess face. She's lovely with her eyes closed and a fabulous turban headpiece on her head. She appears to be Asian with exotic features.
The necklace measures 21 inches around. The heads span 8 inches across and taper down to 11 inches long. The necklace weighs 185 grams. There's a secure spring ring clasp. Necklace is unmarked. The goldplating is very good with no notable worn spots.
Excellent vintage condition. Circa 1950s. (If you buy this, enter donut shops prepared to cause a stir...and we're not talking about the coffee.)
