This humpbacked Flute Player, Kokopelli, is the mythical Hopi symbol of fertility, replenishment, music, dance, and mischief. In more recent years, Kokopelli is a general symbol of the Southwest.
Here, he's an unusual handmade tribal pendant, doing his thing, playing the flute and dancing at the same time.
This pendant is hand carved of genuine horn with an overlay of sterling silver wire work. The large 'eye' is genuine natural turquoise.
The Kokopelli pendant measures 1 1/2 by 2 inches. He hangs from an added sterling silver fine bead chain that measures 20 inches. The clasp is marked 925 with Italian hallmarks. The chain retains its unpolished patina. Necklace weighs 8 grams.
Excellent vintage condition. Circa 1960s.
