This vintage Turkman silver tribal cuff bracelet is an early one. It's sterling silver (acid-tested). It's handwrought. It's heavy...148 grams.
The cuff is a double wide...thick silver that's etched and hammered and finished with a yellow gold wash that leaves highlighted contrasting areas. The stones are polished carnelian that are deep orange to fiery red inside.
The bracelet measures 6 1/4 inches around the inside, including opening. It slides on sideways and fits like a glove if you are in this size range. The bracelet is 2 1/2 inches wide. 148 grams.
This is the genuine Turkkoman cuff, often worn in pairs by Turkmen women, one on each wrist. Wearing this jewelry was a way to carry their wealth when moving from place to place. This bracelet comes from Northern Afghanistan or Turkmenistan...circa 1920s - 1940s.
The surface of the stones show normal age related wear but they have no cracks or chips. The silver surface shows no notable flaws...just rich old patina.
Excellent vintage condition. A rare old tribal piece.
