You can spot that goldtone across a room. It's that rich looking gold plating known as 'Russian Gilt' that was used extensively by the Miriam Haskell Company in their vintage jewelry pieces as part of their signature look.
This vintage Miriam Haskell hinged bracelet was finished using the multi step technique of dipping in a solution that contained 24-karat gold and other secret ingredients. The result was worth the effort because this bracelet is fantastic.
It's 2 inches wide and etched all around with a jungle of florals. The inside measures 7 inches around.
The clasp is a slide-in box that closes with a secure 'snap'. The inside has the oval cartouche marked MIRIAM HASKELL.
The bracelet once had a guard chain on it but it's no longer there (many people find them annoying and remove them). The loops are still there if you want a jeweler to attached a chain.
Under a magnifier and in the blown up photos, the bracelet shows light wear to the finish, mostly around the edge. We haven't polished this at all...the gilt is still beautifully bright and intact to the eye. Our research shows that this is a rare Haskell piece and the few we could find varied in the etching designs and most were 1 1/2 inches wide whereas this one is a whopping wide 2 inches! It's in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1940s.
