There's something about the name 'Jensen' that gives one an excellent talent for metal ware. We all know the big Jensen...Georg...who worked mostly in sterling and gold. Then there was Jorgen.
Jorgen Jensen was known for his modern designs in jewelry and housewares. His work is often confused with that of Georg Jensen but Jorgen Jensen's work was almost always in pewter. He was active in the 1960s and much of his work, especially his necklaces and jewelry, reflects the aesthetic of the times. Jorgen may have worked for a time in the Georg Jensen studio (well after Georg’s death) but there's no relationship between the two men or their workshops. Further confusing the issue is that Georg Jensen had a son named Jorgen.
This vintage pendant necklace is a classic 1960s design made of pewter by Jorgen Jensen. It has four panels of black glass oval cabochons. It looks like a four-sided hanging lamp.
The pendant measures 7/8 inch across each side by 2 inches high with rod. The chain measures 26 inches around with a secure spring ring clasp.
On the inside panels are these marks...DENMARK - PEWTER - the name JORGEN JENSEN in script, and the item number 220D.
Excellent vintage condition.
