This small brass box features an enamel scene on the lid of a flying white horse (Pegusus) over Russian steeples.
The box measures 2 inches square by 5/8 inch thick. It makes an excellent pill or trinket box and even has a good mirror on the inside of the lid.
White horses have a special significance in the mythologies of cultures around the world. From earliest times, white horses have been revered as possessing exceptional properties, transcending the normal world by having wings (e.g. Pegasus from Greek mythology), or having horns (the Unicorn).
Box bottom shows some age-related scuffs / tarnish but is overall in very good vintage condition. The enamel is intact. Inside is clean. Circa 1950s.
