This vintage 1950s sterling silver lady golfer pin was made by Leonore Doskow, a silversmith who learned the art of jewelry-making at a summer camp in the 1920s. Her parents gave her jewelry tools and the rest is history.
"I just found I evidently had a knack for it," Doskow says. "I never intended to make it my life work." But she did...starting a business, opening a shop, having her work displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and selling her wares to one of her first customers...Philadelphia Orchestra conductor Leopold Stokovski. He ordered several items, including a mirror for Greta Garbo.
This golfing lady pin is made of sterling silver. The pin measures 1 inch across by 1 5/8 inches high. It has a secure rollover clasp.
The back is marked LEONORE DOSKOW - HANDMADE STERLING. Pin weighs 6.4 grams and is in excellent vintage condition...lightly polished.
